The Crossing — on the shores of the Minho, the Douro, the Tagus, and the Guadiana

“The Crossing” is a photographic work resulting from a long journey along the banks of 4 rivers, Minho, Douro, Tagus and Guadiana, started in 2010 and which brings together the remarkable photographs of a vast body of work built over 10 years.
These rivers, which at certain moments of their journey are the visible border between Portugal and Spain (essential countries for me), are elements of separation and communion between the two countries, between capital territories and marginal territories, which the whims of history forged.

It is a topographical and emotional reading of the places that occupy these rivers, which with photography open space for digression, surprise and discovery of what characterizes these places, these landscapes and these elements isolated by the photographic composition.

It is a portrait made to understand how we live and cross certain geographies and what they impress on us. How we express the feeling of belonging and the questions that the presence or the absence of belonging raises.
